Abstract:

The purpose of this in-vitro study was assessing the effect of K3XF file systems' usage with reciprocal, adaptive and rotational kinematics and hand files with step-back technique on apical extrusion of debris and irrigation. In our study, 80 extracted mandibular premolars were used. Teeth randomly assigned 4 groups (20 teeth per group). The root canals were instrumented with K3XF file using the following movement kinematics: reciprocating motion, adaptive motion and continuous rotation. As the control group, K-type stainless steel instruments were used with step-back technique. Bidistilled water was used as irrigant. Debris extruded apically during instrumentation was collected in pre-weighed Eppendorf tubes, and after drying, the mean weight of the debris was assessed with an electronic balance. The amount of extruded irrigation solution was calculated with collecting the extruded irrigants from the 27-gauge needles's cannula which is at the caps of the Eppendorf tubes, with the calibtared 0.01 ml insulin syringes. The data were analysed statistically using Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney U tests with the significance level set at p 0.05). There was no stattistically diffences between the groups in terms of irrigant extrusion (p > 0,05). Keywords: Adaptive motion, Debris extrusion, Irrigation, K3XF, Kinematics, Reciprocation
