Abstract:

In this study named "Homeschooling as an Education Model and Its Possibility in Terms of Religious Education (YEKDER Example)" "Homeschooling", which is an alternative education practice in many countries of the world, YEKDER homeschooling practice, which is inspired by homeschooling practice in Turkey and in the world and carried out on religious education through the associationhas been researched. In recent years, there has been a need for alternative approaches, methods and practices in religious education in Turkey. YEKDER homeschooling application was chosen as the research subject in order to contribute to meet of this need. Issues such as why the YEKDER homeschooling practice was preferred, what its acquisitions are on the students, the role of the educators in this practice, how the education is implemented and the homeschool curricula were examined by receiving the opinions of the educators, families and students. This research consists of introduction, four parts, results and suggestions. In the introduction part, information is given about the research subject, purpose, hypotheses, assumptions, limitednesses, method and concepts related to the research. In the first part, school and homeschooling has been examined one by one with a theoretical approach. The historical process of the school and homeschooling, the ways of its implementation and the criticisms and problems related to these educations have been discussed. In the second part, the matter of religious education and teaching at home school in some countries have been examined by making use of the previous researches. In the third part, YEKDER and religious education matter at YEKDER home school has been examined. Information has been given about the establishment, purpose, fields of activity of YEKDER and how they implement homeschooling. In the fourth part, interviews were made with the families, students and teachers participating in the YEKDER homeschool application about the homeschooling practice. The obtained findings have been analyzed and presented in tables. In the conclusion and suggestions part, homeschooling, YEKDER homeschooling and the findings about religious education in homeschooling have been evaluated and some suggestions have been made.
