Abstract:

This research aims to examine the Arifan Madrasa program in Sivas, the lessons taught, the lessons learned and the attitudes of the students towards the medrese, after briefly summarizing the historical process that the madrasa have been through to the present day. As is known, the existing education system with the republic was subject to drastic changes, and the madrasa were officially abolished together with Tevhidi Tedrisat. However, it has not been possible to completely abolish the madrasas, which had survived for hundreds of years and were accepted in the eyes of the society, by a law. In many different parts of Anatolia, some of the medresses continued their existence and came up to daylight. Especially the political developments in recent years, the importance given to the diversity of education in our country has made the opinions and thoughts about madrasa education important. The Arifan Madrasah in Sivas was also the subject of our research at this point. This research, which is limited to Sivas Arifan Madrasa, consists of three parts. In the first part, medrese and the education of the madrasa of the Republican period were emphasized. In the second part, Sivas Arifan Madrasa 's founding and education understanding was examined. In the third part, findings about the questionnaire application for the students who read in Arifan Madrasa were interpreted. It has been determined that the Sivas Arifan Madrasa, which can be accepted as an example of the day-to-day reflection of madrasa education in the history, is an important place in the education and cultural life of the province of Sivas and contributes to the survival of the madrasa tradition.
