Abstract:

The aim of the present study is to compare the shaping ability of five different NiTi rotary file systems on simulated canals. In the study, 100 transparent resin blocks with J-shaped canals were randomly divided into five groups (n=20). Group 1 was shaped with VDW. Rotate (VDW, Munich, Germany) files, Group 2 was shaped with TruNatomy (Dentsply Sirona, Maillefer, Ballaigues, Switzerland) files, Group 3 was shaped with HyFlex CM (Coltene Whaledent, Cuyahoga Falls, OH) files, Group 4 was shaped with EdgeFile X7 (EdgeEndo); Albuquerque, NM) files and Group 5 was shaped ProTaper Next (Dentsply Maillefer, Ballaigues, Switzerland) files. Ten measurement points were detected on the pre-and post-preparation images taken from the shaped blocks and superimposed. Effect of file systems on canal preparation was evaluated for the change in the original shape of the canal, zip, ledge formation, instrument fracture, deformation and change in working length. The data were statistically analyzed using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, Tukey test and the Monte Carlo version of the Fisher Exact tests, and the error level was taken as 0.05. For the first measurement point, the mean canal width values of TruNatomy and EdgeFile X7 groups were found to be higher than ProTaper Next, VDW.Rotate and HyFlex CM groups (P 0.05). The fracture of the instrument and zip formation were not observed in any of the groups. When the master apical files used in the groups were compared in terms of deformation, statistically high rate of deformation occurred in the EdgeFile X7 group (P 0.05). According to the results of the study, all files produced transportation at all 10 measurement points examined. Hyflex CM and EdgeFile X7 files were found to be reliable in terms of transportation in the middle and coronal regions. Wider canal preparation was obtained in the middle and coronal region with the ProTaper Next system. In curved canals, EdgeFile X7 files provided a wider preparation in the apical region compared to other files, while the system was found to be reliable considering the transportation.
