Biography

Donmez is an experienced researcher in the field of cancer research. He possesses expertise in molecular mechanisms, primarily aiming to enhance the understanding of cancer development mechanisms through his work. To achieve this objective, he collaborates with scientists across various universities.

Academically, he completed his Ph.D. in Cancer Sciences at The University of Manchester (2020-2024). His prior education includes a Master's degree in Medical Genetics from Selçuk University Faculty of Medicine (2011-2014)  and a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Selçuk University Faculty of Science (2007-2011).

His technical proficiencies encompass DNA/RNA-based analyses (primer design, Classic PCR, qPCR, RFLP, CRISPR) , protein-based analyses (Western Blot, Immunofluorescence, Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) , in-vitro analyses (MTT, SRB, colorimetric analyses, transfection techniques, morphology analyses, Flow cytometry, invasion/migration analyses, Seahorse analysis, clonogenic analyses) , and cytogenetic-based analyses (Karyotyping, FISH).

Research projects constitute a significant part of his career. His Ph.D. project involved investigating the role of MCT1 in endometrial cancer. He has also examined the effects of medicarpin on head and neck cancer cell lines  and researched the autophagic effects of melatonin on breast cancer stem cells. Furthermore, he participated in projects focusing on the apoptotic and differentiation effects of melatonin on breast cancer stem cells (TUBITAK 1002)  and the investigation of microRNA expression profiles related to pregnancy in mare endometrium (TUBITAK 1001).
