Özet

This study includes usage of molasses as binder in the briquetting of fine hard coal particles and investigation into the effects of parameters in the briquetting tests such as particle size, heating time together with degree, amount of sample, binder content, moisture content and briquetting pressure. Disintegration property of briquettes in water, axial and radial compressive strengths of briquettes were determined in order to obtain durability of the briquette samples. Durable briquettes, in terms of mechanical strength and water resistance, were produced at 10% binder content, 7% moisture content, following pressing at 450 kN/briquette pressure and heat treatment at 200oC for 60 minutes. Optimum coarsest particle size of the sample was found as -3.15mm. Briquettes obtained at the best briquetting conditions were used in the shatter drop tests and burning stove tests. The shatter index value of the briquettes containing molasses was 93.75%. Concentrations of smoke emitted during the combustion tests were determined as 7350 mg and 19950 mg for the molasses binding briquettes and unbriquetted original coal respectively.
