Using the Analytic Hierarchy Process Method in Thermal Destination Preference: The Case of Turkey

Özet

The purpose of the research is to test the usability of the Analytical Hierarchy Process in decision making based on many criteria among different thermal destinations. The research was applied to 50 participants who visited each of the five destinations at least once. In the study, where data was collected by online survey method on social media, the sample was selected according to convenience sampling method. Participants were asked to make comparisons based from five thermal destination in Turkey (Yozgat, Sivas, Afyon, Denizli, Kızılcahamam) between six criteria (price, illness/treatment type, quality, entertainment, shopping, image). According to the results of the research, the criteria used by the participants in evaluating the destinations are price, quality, image, shopping, disease/treatment type, entertainment in order of importance. In addition, according to the evaluation made by the participants using seven criteria, the order of preference of five destinations is Afyonkarahisar, Yozgat, Denizli, Sivas, Kızılcahamam. The research is important in terms of showing that applying to the Analytical Hierarchy Process in thermal destination selection where different criteria are in question is applicable in decision-making and provides facilitation, objectivity, and revealing the criteria that can be used in thermal destination selection in order of importance.
