This study was designed to investigate the causes and consequences of the earthquakes according to the earthquake victims affected by the 6 February earthquakes. The sample group consists of low socio-economic status earthquake victims who were placed in Sivas KYK (state dormitory) during the 6 February earthquakes. The data was obtained using qualitative research methods and analysed thematically using the MAXQDA 2025 programme. The findings are discussed in terms of the social impact of the earthquake and the risks associated with it. In terms of earthquake risks, the following themes were identified: natural disaster approach, fault lines, earthquake preparedness, weak control mechanisms, dysfunction, building design and soil surveys, wreck, divine approach, punishment for sin approach, fear theme, and mass trauma effect. In terms of the social impact of the earthquake, the themes of political authorities, professional and collective consciousness, deviant function as a common theme, social ties, social disintegration, and social integration were identified. The idea that the destructive effects of the earthquake were exacerbated by negligence and inadequate measures came to the fore. It is necessary to be fully prepared for future earthquakes and to take precautions. It is expected that the study will contribute to the literature on the psycho-social aspects of mass trauma analysis in the context of earthquake risks and social impacts.
