Cümbüş is an accompaniment instrument used in Turkish music. In the 1930s, when this instrument was invented, it was used in casino and entertainment music, and its use continued in the musical studies of some fasil committees. It is still used in local performances by local musicians in many regions of Turkey. Cümbüş saz is an instrument that is frequently used in album works in Turkish popular music culture. It is seen that popular music commentators and instrument performers in different countries use the Cümbüş instrument. In this study, among the examples of performers in Turkey; Salih Korkut Peker, Fatih Ahıskalı, Cafer Nazlıbaş, Erkan Oğur, Ali Yılmaz, Fikret Gül, Mehmet Karataş, Aram Tigran, Ara Dinkjiyan in the USA, David Gilmour from Pink Floyd group, British rock music and folk musician Lu Edmonds will be discussed. In this study, the invention, structure and characteristics of the cümbüş instrument, as well as the introduction of some performers using the cümbüş instrument, were investigated.
