In this study, Mamdani and Sugeno type fuzzy systems based on fuzzified interaction parameters (alpha and beta) are employed to predict the miscibility of sodium alginate/poly (ethylene glycol) blends in solution phase. The miscibility predictions from the fuzzy systems are presented and compared with the results from traditional viscometric analysis using interaction parameters (alpha, Delta eta and beta), as well as refractive index measurements. The results show that data-driven zero-order Sugeno type fuzzy model have a better predictive performance than Mamdani type fuzzy system and a good potential to be used for viscometric studies.
