Öz
Engellilik hem bireysel hem de toplumsal düzeyde doğrudan veya dolaylı olarak ele alınması gereken temel bir kavramdır. Engelli bireyler, sıklıkla toplumsal ayrımcılığa maruz kalabilmektedir. Bu durum, engellilik türüne göre farklılık gösterebilmekle birlikte, engelli bireylere yönelik toplumsal tutumlar, sosyal çevre ve bireylerin eğitim düzeyine göre farklılık göstermektedir. Ayrıca, tarihsel açıdan engellilere bakış açısı, dönemin toplumsal yapısı, inanç sistemi, ekonomik koşulları ve coğrafi faktörleri gibi unsurlardan doğrudan veya dolaylı olarak etkilenmektedir. Bu faktörler bağlamında engelli bireylerin toplumdaki diğer bireylerin yaşam koşullarına kıyasla daha zorlu olabileceği göz önünde tutulabilmelidir. Nitekim bu zorluklardan biri de maddi yetersizliklerdir. Maddi yetersizlik ile engellilik arasındaki ilişki, doğrusal bir şekilde ilerlemektedir. Engelli bireylerin ekonomik zorlukları, büyük ölçüde istihdam ve iş dünyasında karşılaştıkları engellerden kaynaklanmaktadır. Bununla birlikte, ekonomik yetersizlik, engelli bireylerin alım gücüyle doğrudan bağlantılı olup, tüketim davranışları da etkilemektedir. Bu bağlamda, engelli bireylerin tüketim davranışları, engelli bireylere yönelik özel politika ve uygulamaların önemini ortaya koymaktadır. Bu çalışma, engelli bireylerin tarihsel süreçte ve günümüzde karşılaştıkları sosyal sorunları ele almayı amaçlamaktadır. Ayrıca, istihdamdaki güçlükler, ekonomik durumları ve bu faktörlerin tüketim davranışlarına etkileri değerlendirmektir. Çalışma sonunda ise paydaşlara önerilerde bulunulmuştur.

Abstract
Disability is a fundamental concept that must be addressed directly or indirectly at both the individual and societal levels. People with disabilities are often subject to social discrimination. While this situation may vary depending on the type of disability, societal attitudes toward people with disabilities differ according to the social environment and the educational level of individuals. Furthermore, historically, the perspective on people with disabilities has been directly or indirectly influenced by factors such as the social structure of the period, belief systems, economic conditions, and geographical factors. In this context, it should be noted that the living conditions of people with disabilities may be more difficult than those of other members of society. Indeed, one of these difficulties is financial inadequacy. The relationship between financial inadequacy and disability progresses in a linear fashion. The economic difficulties of individuals with disabilities stem largely from the barriers they encounter in employment and the business world. However, economic inadequacy is directly linked to the purchasing power of individuals with disabilities and also affects their consumption behavior. In this context, the consumption behaviors of individuals with disabilities highlight the importance of special policies and practices for individuals with disabilities. This study aims to address the social problems faced by individuals with disabilities throughout history and in the present day. It also evaluates the difficulties in employment, their economic situation, and the effects of these factors on their consumption behaviors. At the end of the study, recommendations are made to stakeholders.
