Titanium and alloys are used in many fields
due to their superior properties such as lightness and high strength. Pack
boriding technique to Gr2 and Gr5 samples was carried out at various temperature ranging from 950 to 1050 °C for 6 h, using 85% B4C and 15% Na2CO3
as boriding media. It was determined that borided layers were composed of TiB2
and TiB by means of XRD analysis. The microstructure
and elemental analysis of layer on samples were examined by SEM. It found that
the thickness of borided layers increased parabolically with increasing
boriding temperature. It was seen that diffusion of the boron and microhardness
of borided layers went up with rising boriding temperature.
