Erken çocukluk döneminde çocuklarda eğlenerek gelişim ve öğrenmenin desteklenmesinde öğretmenlerin ve ailelerin en iyi yardımcılarından biri resimli çocuk kitaplarıdır. Bu çalışmada resimli çocuk kitaplarında olumlu ve olumsuz sosyal problem çözme becerilerine yer verilme durumunu incelemek amaçlanmaktadır. Araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden doküman analizi yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Sivas il merkezinde bulunan anaokullarının kütüphanelerinden ya da kitaplıklarından, öğretmenlerden ve ailelerden temin edilen 180 adet resimli çocuk kitabı olumlu ve olumsuz sosyal problem çözme becerilerinden oluşan kodlara göre doküman analizi yapılarak incelenmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda resimli çocuk kitaplarında olumlu sosyal problem çözme becerilerinde en sık “nedenini açıklamak”, “farklı bir çözüm önerisi üretmek” ve “paylaşmak” davranışlarına rastlanırken; olumsuz sosyal problem çözme becerilerinde “fiziksel olumsuz tepkiler vermek”, “sözel olumsuz tepkiler vermek” ve “bağırmak” en sık karşılaşılan davranışlar olmuştur. Araştırmadan elde edilen sonuçlar doğrultusunda çocuklara sunulan tüm kitapların içeriklerinin incelenmesi ve çocukların olumlu yönde gelişmelerini sağlayacak kitapların tercih edilmesi önerilmektedir. Yayınevlerinin de içerik incelemesi yapılmadan kitap basımını yapmaması önemle tavsiye edilmektedir.
Children's picture books are one of the best assistants for teachers and families in supporting development and learning by having fun in early childhood. This study was conducted to examine the inclusion of positive and negative social problem-solving skills in children's picture books. The study used document analysis, one of the qualitative research methods. The researchers analyzed 180 illustrated children's books obtained from the school libraries or bookshelf of kindergartens in Sivas city center, from teachers and families using document analysis according to the codes consisting of positive and negative social problem-solving behaviors. The findings highlighted that "explaining the reason", "producing a different solution proposal" and "sharing" behaviors were found most frequently in positive problem-solving skills in children's picture books, "Giving physical negative reactions", "verbal negative reactions" and "yelling" were the most common behaviors in negative social problem-solving behaviors. In line with the results obtained from the research, the study recommended to examine the contents of all the books offered to children and to choose the books that would enable children to develop positively. Publishers are also strongly advised not to publish books without a content review.
