Gönüllü sade yaşam ile minimalizmin sürdürülebilirliğe katkısı olması nedeniyle kuşaklar
arasındaki farkın toplumun etkilediği düşünülmektedir. Kuşak çatışmasının son günlerde
gündeme gelmesiyle birlikte sürdürülebilirliğin amaçlarından birisi olan sorumlu tüketim
bireylerin tüketim yargılarını etkilemesi açısından önem arz eder. Sorumlu tüketim
doğrultusunda sade yaşam ve kuşaklar arasındaki farklılıklar konusu son zamanlarda ilgi
çekmektedir. Sürdürülebilir kalkınmanın amaçlarına hizmet eden sorumlu tüketim bağlamında
gönüllü sade yaşam tarzı toplumların yapısı hakkında bilgi vermektedir. Gönüllü sade yaşam
tarzı toplumsal yapı üzerine bilgi verse de kuşaklararasında farklılıklar bulunmakta ve bu
farklılaşmalar gönüllü sade yaşam tarzını etkilemektedir. Kuşakların toplumsal iletişim
farklılıklarını öğrenmek için kuşaklar arası farklara değinilmiştir. Bu araştırmanın amacı X, Y
ve Z kuşaklarına göre gönüllü sade yaşam tarzı arasındaki farklılıklarını incelemektir.
Çalışmada Gönüllü Sade Yaşam Ölçeği ve sosyo-demografik sorular kullanılmıştır. Veriler
anket yoluyla yüz yüze ve sosyal medya aracılığıyla Sivas ilindeki 414 kişiden elde edilmiştir.
Kuşaklar ile gönüllü sade yaşam tarzı arasındaki farklılığın anlamlılığını test etmek için Kruskal
Wallis Testi kullanılmıştır.
Araştırmanın sonucuna göre, gönüllü sade yaşam tarzını X kuşağı, Y ve Z kuşaklarına göre
daha fazla benimsemektedir. Benzer şekilde Y ve Z kuşağı karşılaştırıldığında Y kuşağının Z
kuşağına göre gönüllü sade yaşam tarzını daha çok benimsediği ortaya çıkmıştır. Sonuç olarak
X ve Y kuşağı gönüllü sade yaşama karşı daha fazla duyarlıdır. X ve Y kuşağının Z kuşağına
göre gönüllü sade yaşama karşı duyarlı olmasının sebebinin geçmişte karşılaştığı sosyal
sorunlar ve kaynaklara erişiminin daha kısıtlı olmasıyla açıklanabilir. Buna göre Z kuşağının
yaşam tecrübesinin X ve Y kuşağına göre az olması gönüllü sade yaşamı daha az
benimsemesine neden olmaktadır. Nihayetinde ise gönüllü sade yaşama karşı tüketim
tercihlerinin farklılaşması kuşak çatışmasına sebep olmuştur.

It is thought that the difference between generations is affected by the society, as voluntary
simple living and minimalism contribute to sustainability. With the generational conflict
coming to the fore in recent days, responsible consumption, which is one of the goals of
sustainability, is important in terms of influencing the consumption judgments of individuals.
The subject of simple living in line with responsible consumption and the differences between
generations has attracted attention recently. It gives information about the structure of voluntary
simple lifestyle societies in the context of responsible consumption that serves the purposes of
sustainable development. Although the voluntary simple lifestyle provides information on the
social structure, there are differences between generations and these differentiations affect the
voluntary simple lifestyle. In order to learn the social communication differences of the
generations, the differences between the generations are mentioned. The aim of this research is
to examine the differences between voluntary simple lifestyles according to X, Y and Z
generations.
Volunteer Simple Living Scale and socio-demographic questions were used in the study. Data were
obtained from 414 participants in Sivas, face-to-face and through social media. The Kruskal
Wallis Test was used to test the richness of the difference between generations and the
voluntary austere lifestyle.
According to the opinion of the research, the X generation adopts the voluntary simple lifestyle
more than the Y and Z generations. Similarly, it has been revealed that the Y and Z generation
have adopted the simple lifestyle more voluntarily than the Z generation. As a result, X and Y
generations are more sensitive to voluntary simple living. The sensitive attitude of the X and Y
generations to the voluntary simple life compared to the Z generation can be explained by the
social problems they faced in the past and the limited access to resources. Accordingly, the fact
that the Z generation has less life experience compared to the X and Y generations causes them
to adopt voluntary simple life less. In the end, the differentiation of consumption supplies
against voluntary simple living has caused generation conflict.
