Bu makalenin amacı, Sevinç Çokum’un Beyaz Bir Kıyı isimli hikâye kitabındaki söz varlığını tespit etmektir. Söz varlığı; bir dilin bütün sözleri, bir kişinin veya topluluğun söz dağarcığında yer alan sözler toplamı olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Çalışmada, söz varlığı unsurları; temel söz varlığı, deyimler, atasözleri ve ikilemeler ile sınırlandırılmıştır. Bu çalışmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden doküman incelemesi yöntemi, verilerin analizinde ise betimsel içerik analizi yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Bu kapsamda Sevinç Çokum’un 13 farklı hikâyeden oluşmuş Beyaz Bir Kıyı isimli kitabı doküman olarak seçilmiştir. Araştırmanın sonucunda 3.464 tanesi farklı olmak üzere toplam 13.523 temel söz varlığı unsuru, 289 farklı olmak üzere 412 deyim, 118 tanesi farklı olmak üzere toplam 143 ikileme tespit edilmiştir. Eserde atasözünün ise hiç kullanılmadığı görülmüştür. Elde edilen bulgulara göre Beyaz Bir Kıyı isimli hikâye kitabının, Türkçenin anlatım imkânlarını ve ayrıntılarını ifade etmede başarılı olduğu söylenebilir. Ayrıca kitapta sanatlı, soyut bir anlatım tercih edilmiştir. Bunun sonucunda da alışılmamış bağdaştırmaların çok sayıda olduğu gözlemlenmiştir.
The aim of this article is to determine the vocabulary in Sevinç Çokum's story book titled A White Shore. The vocabulary is defined as all the words of a language, the sum of the words contained in the word memory of a person or a community. In the study, vocabulary elements is limited to the basic vocabulary, idioms, proverbs and reduplications. In this study, document analysis method, one of the qualitative research methods, was used and descriptive content analysis method was used to analyze the data. In this context, Sevinç Çokum's book titled A White Shore, consisting of 13 different stories, was chosen as the document. As a result of the research, a total of 13.523 basic vocabulary elements, 3.464 of which are different, 412 idioms, of which 289 are different, and a total of 143 dichotomies, 118 of which are different, were identified. It was observed that the proverb was not used at all in the work. According to the findings, it can be said that the story book named A White Shore is successful in expressing the narrative possibilities and details of Turkish. Additionally, an artistic, abstract narrative was preferred in the book. As a result, a great number of unusual associations have been observed.
