This study examined the child rearing attitudes of families living in rural and urban areas with respect to different demographic features. In this study, it was personal information form to gather participants' demographic features. Also Family Life and Child Rearing Scale (PARI) were used understand the attitudes of parents. The sample of this study consists of 100 children (between 5 and 6 years-old) and their parents living rural and urban areas in city of Agri in Turkey. In the analysis, the independent samples "t" test and (ANOVA) analysis were used. The statistical analysis of this study was done with SPSS. 17 for Windows package program. According to the analysis, there are differences between the child rearing attitudes of families living in rural areas and the child rearing attitudes of families living in urban areas. The families living in rural areas are more autocratic than the families living in urban areas. The families living in urban areas are more democratic than the families living in rural areas.
