Çocukların bilişsel ve sanatsal gelişimlerinin izlenmesi onların bütünsel gelişimleri için önemlidir. Jean Piaget’e göre çocuklar bilişsel gelişimde hiyerarşik olarak belli evrelerden geçer. Viktor Lowenfeld de çocuğun sanatsal gelişiminde belirli aşamaları deneyimlediklerini belirtir. Çocukların sözü edilen gelişim süreçlerinin temel özellikleri onların çizimlerine yansır. Alanyazın incelendiğinde, 02-13 yaş arası çocukların gelişimlerinde bazı dönem ve özelliklerin öne çıktığı gözlemlenmekle beraber, bu yaş grubu için Piaget’nin Bilişsel Gelişim Evreleri ile Viktor Lowenfeld’in Çizgisel Gelişim Aşamalarının ilgili alanyazında karşılığı ve karşılaştırılması üzerine bir araştırmaya rastlanmamıştır. Dolayısıyla, bu çalışmanın araştırma sorusu şöyle belirlenmiştir: “İlgili alanyazına dayalı olarak, 02-13 yaş çocukların gelişim dönem ve özelliklerin, Jean Piaget’nin Bilişsel Gelişim Evreleri ve Viktor Lowenfeld’in Çizgisel Gelişim Aşamaları açısından karşılaştırılması nasıl olabilir?” Bu çalışma, nitel araştırma yönteminde doküman analiz tekniğinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda, çocukların çizimlerinde gelişim açısından 02-04 yaş aralığında insan simgesi, 04-07 yaşlarda düzleme etkisi, 07-09 yaş aralığında gerçekçi renk kullanımı, 09-12 yaş grubunda gerçekçi ayrıntıları yansıtma ve11-13 yaş aralığında ise perspektif özelliğinin gözlemlenebileceği saptanmıştır. Bilişsel gelişim açısından ise, 02-13 yaş aralığında çocukların somut düşünmeden soyut düşünmeye doğru gelişim gösterdiği, bu durumun sanatsal gelişim açısından çocukların çizimlerinde imgelemden, doğanın gerçekçi biçimde yansıtılmasına doğru evirilerek, geliştiği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Children's cognitive and artistic development is very important for their growth. According to
Jean Piaget, the children continue obvious paths from initial stages towards progressive ones in
cognitive development. Viktor Lowenfeld suggested the drawing development stages for the
children’s artistic development. He expected that child reflected the basic characteristics of
these stages in his drawings. However, it is emphasized in the literature that some periods and
characteristics exist in terms of the cognitive development of children between the 02-13 years
old. Unfortunately, there is no any study findings in the literature regarding the comparison of
Piaget's Child's Cognitive Development Stages and Viktor Lowenfeld's Drawing Development
Stages with together the reflections. Therefore, the research question of this study was
determined as follows: “How do to compare the development periods and characteristics of 02-
13 year old children in the literature with Jean Piaget's Cognitive Developmental Stages and
Viktor Lowenfeld's Drawing Development Stages through the literature’s reflections?” The
document analysis technique was used in this study through the qualitative research method.
The results indicated that initially human symbol occurs in the child drawings and then, the
flatting effect reveals in the drawings between the 02-04 and 04-07 age group of the children
respectively. Regarding the 07-09 age group, it was revealed to be used of realistic color in the
drawings. The other findings indicated that realistic detail reflection in the children drawings
between the 09-12 age group of them and the perspective feature in the drawings of the11-13
age group of ones. Consequently, it can be put forwarded that children's drawings evolve
towards the reflection of the nature realistically from the imagination due to children between
the ages of 02 and 13 develop cognitively from concrete thinking to abstract thinking.
