Walkability is a significant factor that directly affects the vitality, sustainability and public health of a city, particularly in city centres. Walkability includes various elements such as road connections, green areas, commercial and service areas, public spaces and adequate lighting, which determine how friendly, safe and attractive a city is for pedestrians. Well-designed walking paths increase social interaction while also providing economic vitality and environmental sustainability. There are also studies showing that roads that increase walkability and public transport integration reduce vehicle dependency and encourage healthy transport alternatives. In this context, walkability in the planning of city centres not only facilitates transportation, but also improves the quality of city life by providing social, economic and environmental benefits.
