Özet

Opportunities for rail innovation are growing at the moment. This has enabled us to move research work from the laboratory and trial in the field. This paper presents case studies on: rail head cleaning (to deal with Autumn low adhesion layers); laser cladding of rail to reduce wear and rolling contact fatigue and a new high speed grinding approach where, from small-scale laboratory studies, we have moved up to higher TRLs through to full-scale and field testing.
