Alasdair MacIntyre çağımızın yaşadığı ahlaki erozyonu açıklamak isteyen önemli bir düşünürdür. Ona göre bu erozyonun yarattığı esaret ahlakın dilini, amacını, içeriğini ele geçirmiştir. Düşünür, bu problemleri analiz etmek için insanın kırılganlığının nasıl dönüştüğünü incelemektedir. Bu dönüşüm üzerinden modernizmin iyi temelli gelenek, amaç (telos) kaybını ön plana çıkarmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı öncelikle modernliğin ortak iyi, değer, gelenek kaybından hareketle, ahlakın nasıl kişisel başarı projesine indirgendiğini tartışmaktır. Burada, toplumsal değerlerin kişisel tutku, başarı özelliklerine nasıl evrilmeye başlandığı analiz edilecektir. Bununla birlikte özgürlük, mülkiyet, ödev gibi kavramların ahlakın amacını ele geçirip geçirmediği üzerinde durulacaktır. Yani ahlaki amaçlar, ekonomik çıkarlara dönüşürken, kapitalizm ahlakının hegemonyasının temelleri sorgulanacaktır. Bu noktada çağımızın ahlaki krizinin kökeninde merkezi konumda olan bireycilikten başlayarak, tutku, yarar, ödev, seçim gibi ahlaki projelere değinilecektir. Ahlaki krize çözüm bulamayan bu projelerin, çağımızdaki tüketim toplumunun yarattığı duyguculuk problemine sebep olup olmadığı ön plana çıkarılacaktır. Bu bağlamda, artık iyinin, “istediğim, onayladığım, seçtiğim” ifadeler haline nasıl geldiği üzerinde durulacaktır. Bununla birlikte, kırılgan olmayan birey ahlakı inşa edilebilir mi, iyinin tanımlanamama problemi ne demektir gibi sorulara cevap aranırken ahlakın meşruiyet probleminin önemi ele alınacaktır. Nihayetinde bu çalışmanın yöntemi kavramsal analiz ve eleştirel değerlendirmeler açısından şekillenmektedir. Bu yöntemle kavramların anlamları, ilişkileri ve kullanım biçimleri ön plana çıkarılacaktır. Çalışmanın kapsamı MacIntyre’ın felsefesi bağlamında ahlaki krize karşı geliştirilen eleştiriler, çözüm denemeleri ve tartışmalarla sınırlıdır. Çalışmanın özgünlüğü ise kırılganlık eleştirisi açısından gelişen modernliğin ahlaki çözümsüzlük probleminin, MacIntyre'ın ahlak felsefesi ışığında incelenmesidir.
Alasdair MacIntyre is an important philosopher who seeks to explain the moral erosion experienced in our age. From his point of view, the impasse arising from this erosion has affected the language, purpose, and content of morality. To analyze these problems, the philosopher examines how human vulnerability has transformed. He highlights the loss of well-established tradition and purpose (telos) in modernism through this transformation. The aim of this study is to discuss how morality has been reduced to a personal success project, based on the concepts of the loss of the common good, values, and tradition in modernity. Within this scope, the evolution of social values into personal passion and success will be analyzed. Meanwhile, it will be examined whether concepts such as freedom, property, and duty have replaced the purpose of morality. While moral purposes are transformed into economic interests, the foundations of the hegemony of capitalist morality will be questioned. In this regard, starting with individualism, which is at the heart of our era’s moral crisis, moral projects such as passion, benefit, duty, and choice will be addressed. It will be highlighted whether these projects, which cannot find a solution to the moral crisis, cause the emotivism problem created by today’s consumer society. In this context, attention will be focused on how the notion of good has become expressions such as “what I want, approve of, and choose.” While seeking answers to questions such as whether an invulnerable individual can develop their own morality and what the problem of the indefinability of good means, the importance of the legitimacy problem of morality will be addressed. Ultimately, the method of this study is shaped by conceptual analysis and critical evaluations. Using this method, meanings, relationships, and usage of the concepts will be examined. The scope of this study is limited to the criticisms, solution attempts, and debates developed against the moral crisis in the context of MacIntyre’s philosophy. The originality of the study lies in its examination of the moral dilemma of modernity, which developed in the context of the critique of fragility, through the lens of MacIntyre's moral philosophy.
