Aquinas is a medieval thinker who reached original interpretations of the content, sources and effects of reason and revelation in terms of knowledge. In the first subject, he explained the evolution of the material that starts with sensation in the wake of the natural light of reason and its abstraction through imagination and active reason around the idea of representation seen in Aristotle in Antiquity. In this section, he pointed out the effect of the sense and the active state of the object, the presentation of images such as an eye and a mirror to the view of the passive mind, the function of memory and intelligence and the faculties of the active mind that are separate from the divine mind. In this section, Aquinas made a distinction between external and internal senses and reached analyses with a depth exceeding that of antiquity, especially on the internal senses of common sense, imagination and memory. In this direction, knowledge is the actualization of active mind regarding things within the potentials of reason beyond sense data. The completeness and perfection of the representation depend on a proper education in reason and, more importantly, on having a strong mind. Moreover, in the conflict between reason and revelation, the error should not be sought in the knowledge based on revelation, but in the errors made during reasoning. For this reason, Aquinas recommended clinging to faith both in natural theology, which remains within the boundaries of reason, and in theology based on revelation, which exceeds these boundaries. This proposal does not overshadow the naturalistic explanations he puts forward in natural epistemology. On the contrary, it is quite successful in providing a realistic account of his sensory-based research. In line with these explanations, this study focuses on Aquinas' philosophical personality, first showing his talent in natural epistemology, then pointing out his attitude towards conflicting religious truths.
