We aimed to determined the epidemiologic data of epilepsy by using population screening in 47 villages located in Sivas. Population screening was made in 47 villages of Ulas Town in Sivas city located in the Middle Anatolia by using the method of face to face home visit in a period of one year. 14253 (78.1% of the whole population) people were investigated. EEG recordings were made in the suspected cases. Active epilepsy prevalence was 8.8parts per thousand. The prevalences of epilepsy in males and females were 9.3parts per thousand and 8.1parts per thousand respectively. There was no statistical difference between age, sex, relativity, neonatal convulsion history and active epilepsy. Statistical difference was found between febril convulsion history and active epilepsy.
