Özet
Biology is a multifaceted scientific discipline that seeks to understand life through the relationships among its different levels of organization. Molecular events are reflected in the functions of cells and tissues, while the responses of organisms shape ecological interactions, environmental health, and biotechnological applications. Current Studies in Biology I consists of six chapters that bring together these different levels of biological organization, offering interdisciplinary content that extends from classical and modern analytical methods to chromosomal stability, from secondary metabolites to pesticide toxicology, and from climate change to the functional potential of insect proteins. The first chapter addresses the classical and modern approaches used in embryological and histological examinations. Traditional methods such as microscopy, histochemistry, and immunohistochemistry are evaluated together with spatial omics, organoid models, and artificial intelligenceassisted analyses, thereby establishing a methodological foundation for integrating morphological structures with molecular information. The second chapter focuses on the evaluation of chromosomal stability in transgenic plants using classical and molecular cytogenetic methods. The structural and hereditary consequences of genetic transformation are examined through methods such as mitotic index, chromosomal aberrations, the micronucleus test, fluorescence in situ hybridization, and flow cytometry. The third chapter examines secondary metabolites, and terpenes in particular, in terms of their biological functions, ecological roles, potential benefits, and toxic effects. It emphasizes that a biological effect depends not only on chemical structure but also on dose, duration of exposure, and the characteristics of the target organism. The fourth chapter evaluates neonicotinoid pesticides with respect to their agricultural uses, mechanisms of action, environmental persistence, and potential risks to human health. The chapter highlights the delicate balance between the production requirements of modern agriculture and concerns regarding environmental and public health. The fifth chapter examines the effects of climate change on insectplant interactions at the molecular, physiological, and ecological levels. It III CURRENT STUDIES IN BIOLOGY I discusses how rising temperatures, atmospheric carbon dioxide, thermal plasticity, and multitrophic interactions may alter ecosystem functioning. The sixth and final chapter examines the nutritional, functional, and bioactive properties of insect proteins. In addition to protein quality and technofunctional properties, the antioxidant, antimicrobial, and antihypertensive potentials of insect-derived bioactive peptides are evaluated. As can be seen, although the chapters may appear to address independent topics, they complement one another along a shared biological narrative that extends from insect to plant, from natural compounds to synthetic chemicals, and from genome integrity to developmental analysis. This coherence transforms the book from a mere compilation into a unified work that reflects the multidimensional nature of contemporary biological research. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the publishing house that made the publication of this book possible, and to the valued staff of the editorial, technical, design, production, and administrative units who contributed their efforts at every stage of the publication process.
