17 th International Conference on Nuclear Structure Properties (NSP2025), Sivas, Türkiye, 25 - 27 Haziran 2025, (Tam Metin Bildiri)
The principal aim of this investigation was the preparation of the composites formed from Expanded perlite (EP) mineral, and polyhydroxyethylmethacrylate (PHEMA) hydrogel polymer. The composite was the mixtures composed of two phases composing of organic PHEMA and inorganic B phases rather than the formation of polymer/mineral hybrid. In this research, a novel composite, poly (2- hydroxyethylmethacrylate-expanded perlite) [P(HEMA-EP)], was synthesized and characterized. While in the polyhydroxyethylmethacrylate-expanded perlite (PHEMA-EP), PHEMA as an inert hydrogel enrolled as the host for the adsorbent B. The synthesis was achieved by using free-radical polymerization and a number of structural characterization methods including Fourier-transformed Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). These results obtained indicated that the novel adsorbent could metal ions with strong chemical affinity. A composite specimen was used for five consecutive, one initial and four reiterative adsorptions to demonstrate the reusability of the composite.
