Özet

Mechanical locking method is a novel and environmentally friendly technique used to join dissimilar materials using low heat input. This method can be used to join different metal types such as copper and steel, aluminum and steel and also join metal materials with non-metal materials such as ceramics. In this study, aluminium alloy AA6063 and Cu30Zn brass material pair with different physical, chemical, thermal, and mechanical properties was joined by using the mechanical locking method. The joining processes were completed at different rotation speeds. In the present study, the damaged surface morphology of the samples, which were subjected to mechanical tests, was investigated. The damage processes of the metal joined using heat and pressure and significant changes in its microstructure were thoroughly assessed. As a result, a desired linear joining layer was obtained with increasing rotation speed (1400
rpm) instead of irregular smearing formed at relatively low rotation speed (900 rpm). On the other hand, it was determined on the damaged surfaces of the joint metal that upon the temperature increasing depending on the rotation speed, the samples had a
more regular microstructure.
