Özet
Gastrointestinal tract (GISGI) metastases refer to the spread of primary malignancies to GISGI organs and are usually seen in advanced cancers. These metastases may affect organs such as the liver, peritoneum, stomach, small intestineintestine, and colon. Invasion occurs via haematologicalhematological, lymphaticlymphatic, or direct invasion. Accurate evaluation of GISGI metastases is critical for prognosis and treatment. Cancers most commonly metastasise metastasize to lymph nodes, liver, and lunglungs. GI metastases are rare, usually asymptomaticasymptomatic, and are detected incidentally by imaging modalities or autopsies. Endoscopically, 26.5% of metastases have present with a malignant or infiltrative appearance. The stomach and duodenum are the most common sites of GI metastases. Melanoma, lung cancer, and breast cancer are the most common primary tumors metastasizing to the GI tract. Pathological evaluation is important in understanding the origin of the malignancy and the routes of spread. Metastatic tumors sometimes mimic the growth patterns of primary tumors and may show different maturation dynamics during invasion. In this chapter, the clinical and pathological significance of rare GI metastases will be discussed.
