With the profiling concept defined in the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the
concern was expressed that personal data could have an impact on people's attitudes and behaviors through
artificial intelligence algorithms. In this study, an answer was sought for the question of how the traces we
leave while communicating can be used within the framework of digital profiling and what the behavioral
consequences might be. The literature was reviewed on the concept of digital profiling and the data were
analyzed comparatively from a digital communication perspective. Findings show that digital profiling is
becoming widespread and its negative consequences may affect people more in the near future. Finally, a
series of recommendations are presented, emphasizing the importance of digital privacy in terms of
communication processes.
