The relationship between spiritual care needs and care dependency in Parkinson’s disease has not been examined before. This study was carried out to determine the relationship between care dependency and spiritual care needs of Parkinson’s patients. Understanding this relationship is important for individuals with Parkinson’s disease to receive holistic care. This descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted with 155 individuals diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease at the neurology clinic of a city hospital in Türkiye. To determine the care dependency and spiritual care needs of the participants, the Care Dependency Scale and the Spiritual Care Needs Inventory were used. The care dependency and spiritual care need of the participants were found to be moderate. There was a negative and significant relationship between these two variables. As spiritual care needs decreased, independence levels increased. The results showed that the spiritual care needs of Parkinson’s patients may have an important role in reducing their care dependency. Therefore, to reduce the care dependency levels of Parkinson’s patients, healthcare professionals are recommended to evaluate their spiritual care needs and consider spiritual care needs as part of holistic care.
