Aim: The aim of this study is to determine life satisfaction and some of the factors affecting life satisfaction in patients receiving hemodialysis treatment. Material and Method: The study was carried out as a descriptive study with 115 patients who were treated in the hemodialysis unit between May and July 2021, who volunteered to participate in the study, did not have communication and psychological problems and had been on hemodialysis treatment for at least 6 months. The Patient Information Form and Life Satisfaction Scale were used to collect the data. The data were collected using face-to-face interview method. The data was analyzed with the SPSS 23.0 package program, by using descriptive statics, Student t Test and One-way Anova test. Results: The average age of the patients participating in the research is 56,86 ± 13,88. 60% of the patients are male, 74,8% are married, 60,9% are retired, 64,3% are primary school graduates. In addition, it was found that 88,7% were non-smokers, 45,2% sometimes exercised and 87,8% had been on hemodialysis treatment three times a week. The life satisfaction score averages of the patients are 14,96 ± 6,01. It was determined that those who do regular exercise have higher life satisfaction than those who do not, and those with chronic disease in addition to their disease have lower life satisfaction (p <0,05). In addition, the more the ages of the patients increased, the less life satisfaction they had (p <0,05). Conclusion: Hemodialysis patients have moderate life satisfaction levels and age, doing exercise and presence of comorbid chronic diseases affect life satisfaction. It is important for nurses to determine the life satisfaction levels of patients and the factors affecting them in terms of planning interventions to increase patients’ life satisfaction.
