Özet

Kendi yaĢam alanlarının dıĢındaki coğrafyalara seyahat etme, o iklimlerdeki tarihî ve doğal güzellikleri, farklı yaĢayıĢ ve inanıĢları keĢfetme insanoğlunun asırlar boyunca sürdüre geldiği eylemlerden birisi olmuĢtur. Bu cümleden olarak baĢta medeniyetlerin beĢiği ve kaynaĢma sahası olan Anadolu olmak üzere, daha birçok tarihî ve kültürel mekâna sahip olan Osmanlı ülkesi de her zaman eĢsiz ve sonsuz bir keĢif ve seyir zevkini bünyesinde barındırmıĢtır. Bu çalıĢmada söz konusu zevke nail olmanın yanında arkeolojik kazılar, tıbbî veya nebatî incelemeler gibi bilimsel ve Kudüs’e giderek hac vecibesini yerine getirme gibi dinî gayeler taĢıyan Almanların II.Abdülhamid döneminde Osmanlı ülkesindeki yolculuk serüvenleri BaĢbakanlık Osmanlı ArĢivi’nden temin edilen vesikalar ıĢığında ele alınmıĢtır. Bu çerçevede Almanların Osmanlı ülkesine hangi yollarla ve ne oranlarda geldikleri, ülke içerisinde daha ziyade hangi tarihî ve turistik mekânları ziyaret ettikleri, ne tarz ilmî faaliyetlerde bulundukları ve ulaĢım, konaklama ve güvenlik açısından kendilerine ne tür kolaylıklar sağlandığı gibi konuların izahına çalıĢılmıĢtır.
