Bireyin düşünme ve karar verme yetisi üzerinde doğrudan etkisi bulunan belirsizlik, edebiyatta ve diğer plastik sanatlarda olduğu gibi sinemada da pek çok kez temel bir motif olarak işlenmiş ve filmlerde kendisine yer bulmuştur. Bu doğrultuda çalışma içerisinde belirsizliğin konu edildiği kimi filmlere değinilerek bu eserlerin belirsizlik üzerinden işleyen anlatı yapılarından bahsedilmiştir. Ardından da çalışmanın odağını oluşturan Nuri Bilge Ceylan’ın yönetmenliğini üstlendiği 2011 yapımı Bir Zamanlar Anadolu’da filmi belirsizlik duygusunun yer edişi üzerinden ele alınmıştır. Bunun için öncelikle belirsizliğin doğası serimlenmeye çalışılarak insanın belirsizlikle kurduğu ilişkiden söz edilmiştir. Daha sonra belirsizliği anlam kurucu bir öğe olarak ele alan Bir Zamanlar Anadolu’da filminin üzerinde durulmuştur. Çalışmada Nuri Bilge Ceylan’ın filmini oluştururken belirsizliği hangi anlarda anlatıya dâhil ettiği ve filmin anlam dünyasını kurgularken bu duyguya ne şekilde yer verdiği irdelenmektedir. Yönetmenin, filmin öyküsünü şekillendirirken yalnızca içerik olarak değil aynı zamanda biçim olarak da yer verdiği belirsizlik, film süresince birtakım görsel anlatı unsurlarıyla da desteklenmektedir. Bir grup erkeğin Anadolu bozkırında gece boyu süren ceset arayışında ortaya çıkan belirsizlik duygusu, cesedin bulunmasıyla devam eden süreçte de varlığını hissettirmektedir. Film, bu duygudan hareket ederek bürokrasi, erkeklik, iktidar, hiyerarşi ve aidiyet gibi kavramların tartışılmasına da imkân sunmaktadır. Çalışmanın hazırlanmasında betimsel analiz metoduna başvurulmuştur.
Ambiguity, which has a direct effect on the individual's ability to think and decide, has been treated as a basic motif many times in cinema, as in literature and other plastic arts, and has found its place in movies. In this direction, some films in which ambiguity is the subject of the study are mentioned, and the narrative structures of these works that work through ambiguity are mentioned. Then, the 2011 film Once Upon a Time in Anatolia, directed by Nuri Bilge Ceylan, which is the focus of the study, is discussed through the place of the feeling of ambiguity. For this, first of all, the nature of ambiguity was tried to be revealed, and then the relationship between human and ambiguity was mentioned. Later, the film, Once Upon a Time in Anatolia, which deals with ambiguity as a meaning-making element, is emphasized. In this study, it is examined in which moments Nuri Bilge Ceylan incorporates ambiguity into the narrative while creating his film and how he gives place to this emotion while constructing the semantic world of the film. The ambiguity that the director includes not only in terms of content but also in form while shaping the story of the film is also supported by some visual narrative elements throughout the film. The feeling of ambiguity that emerged during the night-long search of a body in the Anatolian steppe of a group of men makes its presence felt in the process that continues with the discovery of the body. Based on this feeling, the film also offers the opportunity to discuss concepts such as bureaucracy, masculinity, power, hierarchy and belonging. In this study, descriptive analysis method is adopted in the phase of evaluation.
