Biography

Born in 1991 in Giresun, DÜZÜN developed an interest in music during middle school and began his musical journey there. He completed his primary and secondary education in Sivas. In 2009, he graduated from Muzaffer Sarısözen Anatolian Fine Arts High School in Sivas with a major in violin. During this period, he participated in Turkish Music rehearsals with Kâmil ŞAKAR and S. Eyyûbî IŞIKSAL. That same year, he enrolled in the Traditional Turkish Art Music Department at Selçuk University Dilek Sabancı State Conservatory to pursue a degree in Tanbûr. Throughout his undergraduate studies, he received Tanbûr and theoretical lessons from state artist tanbûrî Kağan ULAŞ and Prof. Dr. Sühan İRDEN. During this period, he also accompanied various TRT artists on violin and tanbûr in numerous concerts and events both within and outside the city.


He completed his undergraduate studies in 2015. In the same year, he began his Master's program in Turkish Music at the Department of Fine Arts at Gazi University. During his master's studies, he had the opportunity to work with Prof. Dr. Gülçin YAHYÂ KAÇAR, Prof. Dr. Mehmet GÖNÜL, Prof. Dr. Vasfi HATİPOĞLU, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Recep USLU.


In 2019, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Vasfi HATİPOĞLU, he graduated from the Master's program with his thesis titled "Analysis of İzzettin Ökte's Tanbûr Improvisations," earning the title of specialist. In 2020, he began his Ph.D. program in Turkish Music at the Graduate School of Education at Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University. That same year, he was appointed as a Research Assistant at Sivas Cumhuriyet University State Conservatory of Turkish Music. In 2024, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Vasfi HATİPOĞLU, he graduated from the Ph.D. program with his dissertation titled "Tanbûr Style in Turkish Music from Tanbûrî Cemil Bey to the Present," earning the title of Doctor in Turkish Music.


Düzün has published articles in various national and international journals and served as a referee for different journals. Since 2020, he has been serving as academic staff at Sivas Cumhuriyet University State Conservatory of Turkish Music, teaching Individual Instrumental Education (Tanbûr) courses and continuing his work in tanbûr performance, transcription, and analysis.
