Prof. KAYA YILMAZ

Dr. Kaya Yilmaz completed his undergraduate education in the Department of History Education as the best student out of 42 students at Marmara University in1994. After graduation, he worked as a history teacher at public schools in Sivas and Gümüşhane between the years 1994-1999.

Having been successful in the YLS conducted by ÖSYM, he was awarded scholarship to pursue his master's and doctoral degree abroad. After passing the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language by ETS) exam, he got acceptance from the College of Education and Human Development at The U of MN. He completed his master's degree in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction (with an emphasis on Social Studies Education) at The University of Minnesota at Twin Cities campus in the United States. After giving the GRE (Graduate Record Examination) exam, he was accepted to the Graduate Program  at The U of GA. He completed his doctorate in Social Science Education at The University of Georgia in the USA. He received the title of Associate Professor In 2010, and was appointed to the position of Associate Professor (at Marmara University) in 2014. He was appointed as full Professor in 2015. He continues his academic studies on social studies education, history education, teacher education, teacher cognition and curriculum development. He has adopted reconstructivism as his educational philosophy.
